Blackberry is a fruit native to Europe, but it has spread across the globe to be commercially grown. The fruit itself grows on a thorny bush and each fruit is comprised of 80-100 individual drupelets that are arranged in a circular fashion. Some research has found compounds in blackberries which may give them cancer-suppressing properties, as well as them having high levels of antioxidants.

A 100 gram serving has only 43 calories and around 35% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, as well as being very rich in fiber. Blackberries are also very rich in vitamins A, E, K and B, as well as other antioxidants that protect against aging, inflammation and neurological diseases.
